Dedicated to preserving and showcasing Australia's unique wildlife through stunning photography and educational content since 2005.
Aussie Wildlife was founded in 2005 by Dr. Emma Thompson, a wildlife biologist with a passion for photography. After witnessing firsthand the devastating bushfires that impacted countless native species, Emma recognized the urgent need to document and raise awareness about Australia's unique fauna.
What began as a personal blog featuring Emma's wildlife photographs soon evolved into a collaborative platform for conservation advocates, researchers, and nature photographers united by their love for Australia's remarkable creatures.
By 2010, our small team had expanded to include conservation specialists, field researchers, and multimedia experts. We established our headquarters in Collingwood, Melbourne, creating a hub for wildlife education and outreach programs that now reach thousands of people annually across Australia and beyond.
Over the years, we've grown from a simple photography website into a comprehensive resource for Australian wildlife information, conservation updates, and educational materials used by schools, universities, and wildlife enthusiasts worldwide.
Since our founding, we've conducted over 120 field expeditions across every Australian state and territory, documenting rare and endangered species in their natural habitats. Our photo archive now includes over 45,000 high-quality images representing more than 1,500 native Australian species.
In 2015, we launched our educational outreach program, bringing Australian wildlife into classrooms through virtual field trips and interactive webinars. This program now reaches more than 10,000 students annually, fostering a new generation of wildlife advocates.
Today, Aussie Wildlife stands as a trusted authority on Australian fauna, collaborating with government agencies, research institutions, and conservation organizations to protect our natural heritage for future generations.
At Aussie Wildlife, our mission is to document, celebrate, and protect Australia's extraordinary biodiversity through compelling visual storytelling, scientific research, and community engagement.
We strive to create an accessible and comprehensive resource that educates the public about Australia's unique wildlife, raises awareness about conservation challenges, and inspires meaningful action to preserve these irreplaceable species for future generations.
